Our Work in Honduras

We refer to this school as “the Termite School’. The existing school consists of 5 classrooms and a set of washrooms. Every element made of wood at this school : roof trusses and door and window frames was destroyed by termites resulting the collapse of roofs in 2 classrooms and severe damage to the other classrooms.
The students are being temporarily relocated offsite while repairs are being made.
Construction startedJanuary 2015 for completion by July 2015

This existing school requires renovations to 2 existing classrooms and the site has space for 2 new kindergartens to replace an existing temporary “open air” kindergarten.

This a remote up-country school site that has two classrooms in very poor condition. The site is very good and a new classroom and a new kindergarten classroom with plus new washrooms will be constructed.

This existing school requires extensive renovations to an existing classroom and replacement of an existing outdoor classroom with a new classroom plus new washrooms.

Construction start in January 2015 for completion by July 2015

• new roof structure and roof , new floor, windows,doors and frames to existing classroom
• new electrical and lighting to existing classroom
• 1 new classroom
• new accessible washroom
• covered activity area,

Allocation of costs:
Municipality/ Community $20,300
SCW CAN $23,700 (54%)

Completed in December,this new school has 7 classrooms, a covered activity space and washrooms. The school accommodates 380 students. The community provided tremendous support throughout the project by raising funds and providing labour.
